Chipotle Chicken Wings
INGREDIENTS
Approximately 10 chicken wings, each cut into 2 pieces
2 Tablespoons sugar
Juice of 1 lemon
Coarse sea salt, to taste
1 teaspoon of ground cumin
Several big pinches of ground cinnamon
Pinch of ground allspice
3 to 4 tablespoons of orange juice
1 or 2 teasponns grated orange zest
1 can of La Morena Chipotle Sauce (200ml)
5 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
Freshly ground pepper, to taste
Homemade salsa or La Morena Salsa Roja (200g)
DIRECTIONS
- Combine the chicken wings, sugar, lemon juice, salt, cumin, cinnamon, allspice, orange juice and zest, chipotle sauce, olive oil and pepper in a large bowl. Marinate for 1 to 2 hours in the refrigerator.
- Preheat oven to 190 degrees. Bake the wings, turning occasionally, for about 1 hour, or until they are golden and browned in spots, the marinade has turned into a sticky mixture and the oil has separated. If they aren’t browned and nicely crispy, either increase the oven temperature or place the wings under the broiler (fan bake). Pour off and discard the oil before serving.
- Serve hot or at room temperature with salsa
